Perhaps the biggest lie we often tell is the phrase “I’m fine.”
“ARE YOU OKAY?”
Is one of the tough questions that challenges us. Have you taken a moment to reflect on whether you’ve answered it with complete honesty?
When faced with this question, many of us experience a mental blank and instinctively respond with a falsehood.
We frequently respond with casual phrases like “we’re good” or “we’re fine,” masking the turmoil beneath the surface. While we project a sense of well-being, we may be silently crying out for help, desperately wishing to lighten the emotional burdens that weigh us down.
We frequently claim to be fine, even as uncertainty surrounds us — uncertainty about the path we will choose, how we will navigate challenges, and what kind of rest is truly necessary for our well-being. It’s essential to acknowledge these doubts rather than simply masking them.
We often choose to isolate ourselves to shield others from the realities of our situation. We guard our vulnerability, not wanting anyone to witness our struggles.
We strive to hide our silent suffering from others, yet deep down, we long for them to hear our cries for help that go unheard.
Have you ever wondered when someone last understood your silence?
Have you ever asked yourself when you last smiled genuinely?
Have you ever wondered when you truly felt alive?
But
Perhaps when they ask us that question again, we will mean it.
We’ll finally answer it honestly
